Lee Weiss of New York explains that the process followed at Urban Recovery starts with undergoing a 10-day assessment after a meeting with the experts to receive a diagnosis and develop a customized treatment model. Talking about the next steps, he explains that the patients can stay at the facility from 35-90 days after the assessment. The patients are visited by therapists several times a week, do individual and group work, therapeutic immersion in their own home or at work as well as integrated therapy with family members.
The experts also taper the dosage of drugs and medications such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and opioids with medical supervision to ensure a healthier withdrawal period. Lee Weiss and his team in New York assist the patients from a medical and psychological standpoint as they slowly get off the drugs, and also treat post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) for symptoms such as irritability, nightmares and hypersensitivity.
After the substance is out of the patients’ system and they begin functioning again, the team will address the start of the consumption while also involving their families through educational programming to learn of healthy habits. We get the family into a conversation with psychiatrists to help them better understand the addiction disorder and mental health issues their loved one may be facing. Living by our belief that every person and every family is unique, we take the time to understand each story.
Not many people know that other than managing the Urban Recovery Centers in Brooklyn, NY, Lee Weiss is a renowned CASAC who also happens to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Elev8 Centers where services such as Inpatient Detox, Inpatient Recovery, and other Outpatient Services are offered under his supervision.
