Once you meet the clinical team at Urban Recovery, you will undergo a 10-day assessment to receive a diagnosis and develop a customized treatment model. Lee Weiss of New York further explains that after the 10-day assessment, you can stay with us from 35-90 days where you will see therapists multiple times a week, do individual and group work, therapeutic immersion in one’s own home or at work as well as integrated therapy with family members.
In getting off drugs and medications – such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and opioids – we will taper the dosage with medical supervision to ensure a healthier withdrawal period. Lee Weiss and his team in New York will assist you from a medical and psychological standpoint as you slowly get off the drugs. We treat post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS), which can last for up to a year, for symptoms such as irritability, nightmares and hypersensitivity.
Once the substance is out of your system and you begin functioning again, the team will address why you used in the first place. The family can also be involved through educational programming to learn of healthy habits. Family will often talk with our psychiatrists to better understand the addiction disorder and mental health issues you may be facing. Since we believe that every person and every family is unique, we take the time to understand their stories.
Notably, in addition to the Urban Recovery Centers in Brooklyn, NY, Lee Weiss is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Elev8 Centers where he offers services such as Inpatient Detox, Inpatient Recovery, and other Outpatient Services. He is a certified alcoholism and substance abuse counselor who has been contributing to this field for more than 15 years now.
